Insurance Age’s ‘Broker Apprentice 2015’ could be in our midst…

An insurance broker from Hereford has been shortlisted for Insurance Age’s Broker Apprentice 2015.

Tristan Antrobus-Holder, from Jelf Clarke Roxburgh’s Hereford branch is a finalist in the prestigious industry competition which aims to recognise special talent in the broking industry.

Tristan Antrobus-HolderExplaining his success so far in the initial shortlisting process, Tristan said:  “I applied for the contest having read an article on the previous year’s Insurance Age competitions.  Having successfully applied via the website, I was selected for the interview stage at the LV offices in Bristol.  This was a 45-minute grilling with members of the senior LV management and Insurance Age editorial team.  Apparently I impressed sufficiently as I received a call from Insurance Age the following week advising me I was through to the finals in London to compete for the title of Broker Apprentice 2015.”

Tristan will face a series of filmed insurance tasks in November, similar to the BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’, while trying to impress the judging panel – headed up by John O’Roarke, LV’s Managing Director of General Insurance. Tristan will be joined by five other contestants from brokerages such as Henderson Insurance, Watkin Davies and Towergate Insurance in the ultimate stage of the competition.

The winner will be announced after the final tasks on Monday 16 November. Along with the prestigious title, the winner will receive four mentoring sessions with LV’s John O’Roarke, one week shadowing the LV broker team management and an experience day of their choice worth £1,000.

Tristan added: “I felt applying for the contest was a brilliant way to increase my exposure across the insurance industry while also helping me showcase the knowledge and skills I have gained while working for Jelf.

“It’s a real privilege to be selected for this prestigious competition and I hope I can do Jelf proud by winning.  I have received fantastic support from all those in Hereford and Ross-on-Wye while applying for the competition and I’m sure I can count on the continued support from the rest of Jelf throughout the competition.”

JIB’s Regional Managing Director – Midlands & South Wales, Julian Hilton, said: “On behalf of Jelf, I would like to congratulate Tristan for his achievement so far and wish him the best of luck in the next stage of the contest.”

You can watch the video series online throughout the filming process or the full series before the end of the year – we will communicate further details soon.
